BJP Heads for Big Win in Bengal, Gains in Assam; TVK Surges in Tamil Nadu Debut
As counting trends firmed up across key states, the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) appeared to be on course for a decisive victory in West Bengal, leading in 194 seats, far ahead of the ruling Trinamool Congress (TMC), which was ahead in 91 constituencies. The TMC is led by Chief Minister Mamata Banerjee.
The BJP also showed strong momentum in Assam, consolidating its position with a significant lead as vote counting continued.
In Tamil Nadu, actor-turned-politician Vijay made an impressive electoral debut, with his party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam (TVK), leading in 105 seats. The development pushed the ruling Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (DMK) into second place, marking a dramatic shift in the state’s political landscape.
Meanwhile, in Kerala, the Indian National Congress was leading in 61 seats, followed by the Communist Party of India (Marxist) with 29 seats and the Communist Party of India with nine.
