New Delhi: Five new judges have been appointed to the Supreme Court of India following the approval of President Droupadi Murmu. The appointments were made based on the recommendations of the Supreme Court Collegium headed by Chief Justice of India (CJI) Surya Kant.

Union Law Minister Arjun Ram Meghwal announced the appointments and stated that the President has formally approved the names recommended by the Collegium. The newly appointed judges include four Chief Justices from various High Courts and one distinguished senior advocate.

The judges elevated to the Supreme Court are:

  • Chandrashekhar, Chief Justice of the Bombay High Court
  • Sheel Nagu, Chief Justice of the Punjab and Haryana High Court
  • Sanjiv Sachdeva, Chief Justice of the Madhya Pradesh High Court
  • Arun Palli, Chief Justice of the Jammu and Kashmir and Ladakh High Court
  • Senior Advocate V. Subramanian Mohana

The Ministry of Law and Justice issued an official notification regarding the appointments on Monday morning.
