NEW DELHI: Akshay Kumar and Saif Ali Khan-starrer Haiwaan has earned Rs 4.60 crore at the global box office on its opening day, according to early estimates.

Directed by Priyadarshan, the action-comedy marks the reunion of Kumar and Khan on the big screen after 17 years. The actors have previously shared the screen in films including Main Khiladi Tu Anari, Tu Chor Main Sipahi, Keemat, Aarzoo and Tashan.

Haiwaan is helmed by Priyadarshan, who is known for popular comedy films such as Hera Pheri, Hulchul, Bhool Bhulaiyaa and Hungama. The filmmaker has brought Kumar and Khan together in the lead roles for the latest release.

The two actors last appeared together in the 2008 action film Tashan, which also featured Kareena Kapoor Khan and Anil Kapoor.

The Rs 4.60-crore opening offers an early indication of the film’s theatrical performance. Its box office trajectory is expected to depend on audience response and occupancy over the opening weekend.

The collaboration between Kumar and Khan, coupled with Priyadarshan’s reputation for comedy-driven entertainers, had generated considerable interest among moviegoers ahead of the film’s release.
