Hauz Khas, Jantar Mantar among 10 Delhi monuments with restricted entry amid repairs
NEW DELHI: Visitor entry to monuments in Hauz Khas, Jantar Mantar and Agrasen ki Baoli has been restricted as parts of the heritage structures undergo repair and conservation work, according to a response to an RTI query.
A copy of the response accessed by PTI said restrictions have been imposed at several of the 10 monuments in Delhi where the Archaeological Survey of India (ASI) is undertaking conservation, structural repair and visitor-facility improvement works.
Emergency structural repairs are currently being carried out at the group of monuments in Hauz Khas and the Kotla Firoz Shah complex, the response said.
At Tughlaqabad Fort and the tomb of Ghiyasuddin Tughlaq, work is focused on refurbishing visitor facilities, it added.
The RTI response also indicated that repair and conservation activities at the protected monuments have necessitated restrictions in certain areas to ensure the safety of visitors and facilitate the execution of the works.
The measures are part of ongoing efforts by the ASI to preserve Delhi’s historic monuments while improving amenities for tourists and visitors.
The restrictions may remain in place in affected areas until the relevant repair, conservation or visitor-facility works are completed, according to the response.
