DGCA Imposes Flying Restrictions on UP Training Schools Ahead of BRICS Summit
LUCKNOW: The Directorate General of Civil Aviation (DGCA) has temporarily restricted flying activities by Flying Training Organisations (FTOs) operating from Uttar Pradesh as part of enhanced security measures for the BRICS Summit-2026 in New Delhi.
According to a communication issued by the aviation regulator to all FTOs in Uttar Pradesh, the restrictions will remain in force for three days, from 7 am on September 11 to 11 pm on September 13.
The directive comes ahead of the BRICS Summit, which is being hosted in the national capital, and is aimed at strengthening airspace security during the high-level international gathering.
The DGCA has made it clear that no aircraft operated by an FTO in Uttar Pradesh will be allowed to undertake flying activities during the specified period. The restriction covers a wide range of aircraft and flying equipment.
The order specifically states that “no aircraft including light/micro-light aircraft, hang gliders, helicopters etc. is permitted to fly even to start from any FTO” located in Uttar Pradesh during the restricted period.
This means FTOs across the state will have to suspend their flying operations during the designated hours. The restriction applies not only to conventional training aircraft but also to light and microlight aircraft, helicopters and hang gliders.
The temporary curbs are part of the broader security arrangements being implemented in and around the national capital in connection with the BRICS Summit. Such measures are intended to prevent unauthorised or potentially unidentified aerial activity during the movement and presence of visiting foreign leaders and other high-profile delegates.
Flying training organisations are expected to comply with the DGCA directive and ensure that none of their aircraft or other specified flying equipment takes off during the restricted period.
The restrictions will automatically cease after 11 pm on September 13, unless further instructions are issued by the aviation authorities.
The DGCA’s communication underscores the heightened aviation security measures being put in place during the summit and temporarily affects routine flight-training activities in Uttar Pradesh.
