Ola Electric, Axis Energy Join Hands to Develop Utility-Scale Energy Storage
NEW DELHI: Ola Electric Mobility on Wednesday announced it has signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Axis Energy. Ola Electric marking the first large-scale partnership to explore deploying up to 20 GWh of battery energy storage systems (BESS) by 2032, and for its upcoming Ola Mahashakti energy storage platform.
The Mahashakti platform, set to launch on August 15, will cater to commercial, industrial, and utility-scale applications. Ola said the partnership highlights the growing demand for utility-scale battery storage and opens a significant new growth opportunity for the company.
Axis Energy, which has secured grid approvals for over 3,750 MW of renewable energy projects. It has an additional pipeline of around 3,500 MW, and the battery storage of Axis Energy will play a crucial role in enabling reliable, round-the-clock clean power. Ola Electric Chairman and Managing Director Bhavish Aggarwal said the collaboration validates Mahashakti’s integrated battery platform, designed to offer improved safety, performance and lower ownership costs. The company noted that India’s energy storage requirement is expected to exceed 400 GWh by 2032, positioning Mahashakti to support the country’s accelerating clean energy transition.
