Drugs worth Rs 10.8 Crore Seized in Assam; One Arrested
GUWAHATI: Drugs worth more than Rs 10 crore were seized during an overnight operation in Assam’s Sribhumi district, leading to the arrest of one person, Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma said on Friday.
According to the chief minister, the seized narcotics are valued at approximately Rs 10.8 crore. Police have launched a search operation to trace and apprehend other members of the alleged drug trafficking network.
Praising the success of the operation, Sarma said the seizure reflects the Assam Police’s continued crackdown on narcotics smuggling. Rs 10.8 crore is a heavy price to pay for crossing paths with Assam Police. Kudos to Sribhumi Police for intercepting a massive consignment during an overnight operation, the chief minister said in a post.
Further investigation is underway to identify the source of the consignment and uncover the wider network involved in the racket.
