Lok Sabha Speaker Birla urges govt, Opposition to end disruptions, ensure House functions

NEW DELHI: Lok Sabha Speaker Om Birla on Tuesday expressed anguish over repeated disruptions in the House and urged the government and opposition to find common ground to ensure smooth proceedings. Amid noisy protests, Birla said the government had agreed to the opposition’s demand for a response from Union Home Minister Amit Shah on the July 20 police action against students protesting over the NEET paper leak. He said other issues raised by the opposition could also be discussed if the House functions without disruptions.
