Future Wars Will Be More Integrated, Theatre-Oriented: Army Chief Gen Dwivedi
NEW DELHI: Outgoing Army Chief General Upendra Dwivedi on Tuesday said the nature of future warfare will be increasingly joint, integrated and theatre-oriented, underscoring the need for India’s armed forces to operate seamlessly across services.
Addressing the media after receiving a ceremonial guard of honour on the lawns of South Block on the final day of his tenure, Gen Dwivedi said the armed forces have a clear direction for the future — “to see together, take decisions together and take actions together.”
The Army Chief, who retires on Tuesday after more than four decades of distinguished military service, said evolving security challenges require greater synergy among the Army, Navy and Air Force, with integrated planning and coordinated operations becoming central to national defence.
Reflecting on his tenure, Gen Dwivedi expressed gratitude and pride as he prepared to step down from the country’s top Army post. “Today, as I complete my tenure as the Chief of the Army Staff, I feel a sense of deep gratitude, pride and satisfaction,” he said. An accomplished military leader with over 40 years of service, Gen Dwivedi was accorded a ceremonial farewell by the armed forces, marking the conclusion of his tenure as Chief of the Army Staff.
