Odisha Hit by Heavy Rain, Northern Districts Brace for Flood Threat
BHUBANESWAR: Heavy rain lashed Odisha on Thursday as a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal intensified into a depression, raising flood fears in northern districts. The IMD, which had issued a red warning for very heavy to extremely heavy rainfall, later placed the state under orange and yellow alerts, forecasting heavy rain till 8.30 am on Friday. The depression moved northwestwards after forming over coastal West Bengal, adjoining Bangladesh and the northwest Bay of Bengal.
