New Citizen Lounge and Learning Centre Opened at DM Office by CM Rekha Gupta
NEW DELHI: Delhi Chief Minister Smt. Rekha Gupta inaugurated the Citizen Lounge-Cum-New Age Learning Centre developed by Elan Foundation at the New Delhi District Magistrate (DM) Office, marking a significant step towards improving public service delivery and creating educational opportunities for students and youth. The initiative started to enhance the overall experience of citizens visiting the DM office while providing a modern learning space for young people.
Speaking at the inauguration, Gupta said the facility reflects a citizen-centric approach to governance, ensuring that visitors to government offices have access to comfortable and dignified public amenities. She emphasized that good governance extends beyond policy implementation and includes providing hassle-free and positive experiences for citizens interacting with government departments.
The newly developed centre features an air-conditioned lounge, comfortable seating arrangements, a reading corner, newspapers, books and magazines for visitors. The learning centre component is designed to support students and youth with access to educational resources, digital learning facilities and study spaces, particularly benefiting those from nearby communities and economically weaker sections.
According to officials, the facility is expected to evolve into a hub for career counselling, competitive examination guidance, digital learning and skill development programmes. Books related to law, administration, career planning and competitive exams will be made available, while computers and other digital resources will be added to support modern learning needs.
