CPI (M) Admits Election Campaign Was Overly Focused on Vijayan

Thiruvananthapuram: The CPI(M) has acknowledged that its Kerala Assembly election campaign became excessively centred on then Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan, allowing the opposition to frame the polls as a personal contest rather than a political battle.

The admission was made in the party’s “Review of Assembly Election Results”, adopted during the Central Committee meeting held from July 11 to 13, 2026, following discussions in the Kerala state secretariat and state committee. The review noted that a widespread perception had emerged that the entire campaign revolved around a single individual.
