HC Seeks Delhi Police’s Stand on Sharjeel Imam’s Bail Plea in 2020 Riots Conspiracy Case
New Delhi: The Delhi High Court on Friday sought the Delhi Police’s response to student activist Sharjeel Imam’s bail plea in a case under the Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act (UAPA) linked to the alleged larger conspiracy behind the February 2020 Delhi riots.
A bench of Justices Prathiba M. Singh and Vikas Mahajan issued notice on Imam’s appeal challenging a trial court order dated July 4, which had rejected his second regular bail application.
The court granted the Delhi Police two weeks to file its reply and scheduled the matter for further hearing on August 27.
