‘We Don’t Even Participate in Half of Olympic Sports’: PM Modi Calls for Greater Sporting Participation

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Thursday said India must expand its participation in Olympic sports to improve its medal tally. Addressing the Khelo India Dialogue virtually, Modi said Indian teams did not compete in nearly half of the sports at the 2024 Paris Olympics, calling it a “bitter truth”. He said mastering more sporting disciplines was essential to winning more medals. Modi stressed that his vision for sports goes beyond medals and aims to integrate the country’s sporting and youth potential into nation-building.
