Jharkhand CID Arrests another Accused in JSSC-CGL Exam Irregularities Case

RANCHI: The Jharkhand Police’s Criminal Investigation Department (CID) has arrested another person in connection with alleged irregularities in the Jharkhand Staff Selection Commission’s (JSSC) Combined Graduate Level (CGL) examination, officials said.

The latest accused, identified as Rajan Kumar, was arrested in Bihar, taking the total number of people apprehended in the case to 11. The CID alleged that Kumar took several JSSC-CGL aspirants to a hotel in Neamatpur, West Bengal, where they were made to memorise answers to questions that were to appear in the examination. Some of the candidates allegedly benefited from the arrangement and cleared the examination.

The JSSC-CGL examination, officially designated as the Graduate Level Combined Competitive Examination-2023, was conducted in September 2024. The alleged irregularities triggered prolonged protests by job aspirants in Ranchi, who demanded action against those responsible and sought a probe into the recruitment process.

The CID has been conducting a Special Investigation Team-led probe into the alleged irregularities. Among those arrested earlier are key accused Abhay Tiwari, his wife Sushama Kumari and his brother Akshay Tiwari, besides several successful candidates.

The investigation remains ongoing, with the agency examining the alleged network involved in compromising the examination process.
