DDA Unveils 8-Point Roadmap for Major Urban Transformation of Delhi
NEW DELHI: The Delhi Development Authority (DDA) has drawn up an ambitious eight-point development programme aimed at transforming the national capital into a sustainable, green and liveable city, with priority areas including affordable housing, mobility, environmental protection and heritage conservation.
The roadmap was discussed at a recent meeting of the DDA’s Advisory Council chaired by Lieutenant Governor Taranjit Singh Sandhu, where members reviewed key urban challenges and identified measures to address them.
According to officials, the council examined the widening gap between the demand and supply of affordable housing, the growing number of slums and Jhuggi Jhopri (JJ) clusters, and strategies for their relocation and rehabilitation. It also deliberated on the long-pending issues of regularisation and redevelopment of unauthorised colonies.
Officials said the council adopted a four-pillar strategy designed to guide Delhi’s long-term urban transformation, with a strong emphasis on planned and inclusive development.
