Delhi Court Refuses Govt Department’s Request to Register FIR

New Delhi: A Delhi court has dismissed a revision petition filed by the Delhi government’s Directorate of Employment seeking registration of an FIR against a private firm and its authorised signatory over the alleged misappropriation of around Rs 1.94 lakh in government funds.

Additional Sessions Judge Dhirendra Rana upheld the magistrate’s August 2023 order, observing that a police investigation was unnecessary as the department already possessed all relevant documents and the identities of the accused were known. The department had alleged that the company and its signatory had dishonestly misappropriated government funds through fraud and cheating, and had sought directions to register an FIR.
