Ignoring Painless Foot Ulcers Could Lead to Amputation in Diabetics: Doctors

NEW DELHI: Doctors have warned that even minor foot injuries such as blisters, cuts, or toe wounds can become serious for people with diabetes, potentially leading to severe infections and even limb amputations if left untreated. They stressed that early detection and prompt medical care are crucial to preventing complications.

Doctors at Marengo Asia Hospitals, Gurugram, said diabetic foot syndrome is one of the most neglected yet preventable complications of diabetes. Marking World Plastic Surgery Day on July 15, the hospital launched a specialised Diabetic Foot Lab to help identify foot problems at an early stage and prevent the development of ulcers through timely screening and intervention.
