Heavy Downpour Continues to Inundate Low-Lying Areas across North Kerala

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Heavy rain continued to batter parts of Kerala on Tuesday, with the northern districts recording the highest rainfall during the 21 hours ending at 5.30 am, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD).

Flooding persisted in several low-lying and riverside areas of Alappuzha, Pathanamthitta, Kottayam and Kozhikode, forcing many residents to move to relief camps and causing the loss of important documents and children’s school books. State Tourism Minister P C Vishnunadh said the government will organise special adalats to help restore lost documents and ensure that affected students receive textbooks and other study materials.
