Kannur-Jeddah Air India Express Flight Makes Mid-Air Return Due to Technical Issue, Lands Safely

KANNUR (Kerala): An Air India Express flight operating from Kannur to Jeddah was forced to return to its origin airport on Tuesday morning after pilots detected a warning related technical issue in the aircraft’s engines, airport sources said.

The flight, carrying more than 180 passengers, departed from Kannur International Airport at around 7.40 am. However, the cockpit crew noticed an engine warning light and, as a precautionary measure nearly two hours into the journey, decided to turn the aircraft back to Kannur. “The flight landed safely in Kannur, and all the passengers are fine,” sources said, adding that the airline initiated necessary checks on the aircraft following its return.

No injuries were reported as the aircraft landed safely at Kannur airport without any incident, according to airport officials. The exact reason of the engine-related warning has not yet known. Any official statement on the incident has not yet issued by the Air India Express.
