Over 8,800 Devotees Begin Amarnath Yatra from Jammu in Largest-Ever Batch This Season
JAMMU: The largest batch of pilgrims so far this year’s Amarnath Yatra departed from the Bhagwati Nagar base camp in Jammu on Tuesday, with 8,815 devotees, including 31 foreign nationals, beginning their journey to the revered cave shrine in Kashmir under stringent security arrangements.
Officials said the sixth batch comprised 5,831 men, 2,193 women, 31 children, 598 sadhus, 131 sadhvis, and 31 foreign pilgrims, reflecting the growing enthusiasm among devotees for the annual pilgrimage.
The convoy left the Bhagwati Nagar base camp early in the morning under a multi-layered security cover to ensure the safe movement of pilgrims along the twin routes leading to the holy shrine. Meanwhile, the pilgrimage has witnessed a strong turnout since its commencement, with more than 93,000 devotees offering prayers at the 3,880-metre-high Amarnath cave shrine in the south Kashmir Himalayas during the first four days of the yatra.
