Himachal Govt Prohibits Sale of Non-Dairy Paneer
SHIMLA: The Himachal Pradesh government on Thursday prohibited the sale, purchase, storage and supply of non-dairy or analogue paneer that does not comply with the Food Safety and Standards Act, 2006.
The order comes amid reports of widespread sale of such products in markets. Unlike traditional paneer made from milk, analogue paneer is produced using vegetable oils or plant fats and emulsifiers to imitate its texture and appearance, but lacks the nutritional value of dairy paneer.
