Rajya Sabha Sees Opposition Walkout over Demand for Amit Shah’s Response on Student Crackdown
NEW DELHI: Opposition parties led by the Congress staged a walkout from the Rajya Sabha on Thursday after their demand for Home Minister Amit Shah to make a statement on allegations of police using excessive force, including pellet guns, against students protesting the alleged NEET paper leak was rejected.
The opposition raised slogans seeking Shah’s response over the July 20 police action. Raising a point of order, Congress leader Pramod Tiwari said the Constitution makes the Council of Ministers accountable to Parliament and insisted the government respond to the issue in the House.
