Tamil Nadu has an action plan to tackle El Niño as 12 districts face higher risk: Minister.
Chennai: Twelve districts in Tamil Nadu are likely to be more severely affected by the expected super El Niño event, Agriculture Minister R. Vinoth informed the State Assembly on Thursday. Presenting the TVK government’s first agriculture budget, he said the budget was prepared after consultations with stakeholders and that existing farm welfare schemes would continue alongside new initiatives. Vinoth added that the state has intensified preparedness by implementing the Tamil Nadu Agricultural University’s action plan to mitigate the impact of the anticipated weather event.
