Jaishankar Advocates Enhanced India-ASEAN Cooperation in ‘Extremely Turbulent’ World

Manila: External Affairs Minister S. Jaishankar on Wednesday called for deeper cooperation between India and ASEAN, saying the world is “extremely turbulent” and no single nation or grouping can tackle global challenges alone. Addressing the ASEAN Post-Ministerial Conference with India 2026 in Manila, he stressed the need to strengthen collaboration in areas such as trade, technology, AI, connectivity and maritime security.

Jaishankar also highlighted the importance of resilient supply chains and adherence to international law, while noting that India and ASEAN, representing nearly two billion people, must work together for a stable and secure Indo-Pacific. He is also scheduled to attend the Quad foreign ministers’ meeting during his two-day visit.
