Mumbai: The rupee rose 7 paise to 95.64 against the US dollar in early trade on Monday, supported by a weaker American currency, but remained range-bound amid geopolitical tensions. Elevated Brent crude prices and strong importer demand capped gains, while investors remained cautious ahead of fresh US sanctions on Iran targeting its oil trade, banking network and shipping routes.
