Modi government ‘strangulating, emasculating’ ISRO: Congress
NEW DELHI: The Congress on Monday accused the Modi government of pursuing an “aggressive privatisation agenda” in the space sector and questioned why ISRO should be “strangulated and emasculated” while promoting private startups.
Congress general secretary in charge of communications Jairam Ramesh said recent reports on ISRO’s future role in India’s space programme had raised legitimate concerns about the organisation’s capabilities, built over six decades. He credited pioneers including Vikram Sarabhai, Satish Dhawan, Brahm Prakash, UR Rao and APJ Abdul Kalam for shaping ISRO’s achievements.
