Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran to Step Down After Term Ends in February

NEW DELHI: Tata Sons Chairman N Chandrasekaran on Wednesday said he will not seek reappointment after his current term ends on February 20, 2027, bringing an end to months of uncertainty over the leadership of the Tata Group’s holding company.

Chandrasekaran said the Sir Dorabji Tata Trust and Sir Ratan Tata Trust, the majority shareholders in Tata Sons, had unanimously recommended a five-year extension of his term. The proposal was later recorded and recommended by the Tata Sons Nomination and Remuneration Committee and the Board. However, the proposal, tabled at a Board meeting on February 24, did not go through after one Board member declined to support it, Chandrasekaran said.
