Police Register Case against Two in Rs 2.15 Crore Share Investment Fraud in Thane

Thane: A 33-year-old man and several others were allegedly duped of more than Rs 2.15 crore by two consultancy operators who lured them into investing in bogus share market schemes with promises of high returns in Maharashtra’s Thane district, police said on Saturday.

Based on a complaint, Kalyan police have registered an FIR against Rohit Surwade and Pratik Gaikwad under relevant provisions of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and the Maharashtra Protection of Interest of Depositors (MPID) Act. According to police, the accused allegedly carried out the fraud between March 2022 and June 2025 by convincing investors to invest in fake stock market plans. Further investigation is underway.
