US Senate Introduces Bill Seeking 100% Tariffs on India for Russian Oil Imports
Washington: A bipartisan bill introduced in the US Senate seeks to impose 100% tariffs on imports from five countries, including India and China, for continuing to purchase Russian oil. Backed by more than 60 lawmakers, the legislation was introduced by Democratic Senator Richard Blumenthal and late Republican Senator Lindsey Graham.
The proposed measure aims to curb Russian President Vladimir Putin’s ability to fund the war in Ukraine by targeting Russia’s political leadership, financial institutions, energy sector, and sanctions evasion networks through mandatory sanctions.
