Arunachal CM Pays Homage to Legendary Singer Bhupen Hazarika

ITANAGAR: Arunachal Pradesh Chief Minister Pema Khandu on Tuesday paid tribute to legendary singer, composer and filmmaker Bhupen Hazarika on his birth anniversary, remembering him as a timeless voice that united the Northeast and resonated far beyond the region.

Khandu said Hazarika’s music transcended geographical boundaries and played a significant role in fostering emotional and cultural integration.

“Your songs beautifully bridged the hearts of Northeast India and the rest of the world. In Arunachal, your melodies continue to resonate, inspiring peace, unity, and cultural pride. May your timeless legacy keep connecting generations,” Khandu said in a social media post.

Hazarika, widely regarded as one of the most influential cultural icons of the Northeast, used his music to highlight themes of humanity, harmony and social unity.

Khandu said Hazarika’s enduring musical legacy continues to inspire people in Arunachal Pradesh and across generations, underscoring the power of art and culture to bring communities together.
