Ashish Yadav Bags Javelin Silver as India Opens Medal Account at World Athletics U20s
EUGENE (USA): Ashish Yadav clinched a silver medal in the men’s javelin throw at the World Athletics U20 Championships on Saturday, opening India’s medal account at the event.
South Africa’s Jan-Hendrik Heymans won gold with an 80.50m throw. The 19-year-old produced a best throw of 74.09m in his third attempt to finish second, while compatriot T Dharanidharan placed sixth with 72.35m. Yadav’s silver made him only the second Indian after two-time Olympic medallist Neeraj Chopra to win a medal in men’s javelin at the World U20 Championships.
