Ashok Gehlot Alleges BJP Used Kanhaiya Lal Murder for Electoral Gains, Seeks Justice

JAIPUR: Congress leader Ashok Gehlot on Saturday alleged that justice has remained elusive in the Kanhaiya Lal murder case even four years after the incident, accusing the BJP of using the issue for electoral gains while failing to ensure speedy punishment for the accused.

Addressing the media, the former Rajasthan chief minister questioned the pace of the investigation and trial, noting that despite the National Investigation Agency (NIA) handling the probe and a special NIA court hearing the case, there had been little progress under the BJP governments at both the Centre and in Rajasthan.

Gehlot claimed that only 21 of the 180 listed witnesses had been examined so far, calling the pace of the trial “deeply disappointing.” He alleged that the delay was not merely due to negligence but rather a deliberate attempt to prolong the proceedings. “The Kanhaiya Lal murder case has been used as a political issue by the BJP during elections, but now it has gone silent on ensuring justice,” he said.

The senior Congress leader further alleged that the ruling party lacked the intent to secure a speedy trial and bring the case to its logical conclusion.
