Assam Govt Begins Disbursing Rs 75,000 Interim Relief to Flood-Hit Households
Guwahati: The Assam government on Monday released the first tranche of interim flood relief of around Rs 75,000 to each affected household as the state continues recovery efforts following the devastating floods. Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma, currently touring the worst-hit districts, disbursed the assistance from Dibrugarh. Meanwhile, the flood death toll in Upper Assam rose to 85 after three more fatalities were reported on Sunday, although the number of affected people declined to 1.35 lakh, officials said.
