Assam plans Rs 1.5 lakh crore infrastructure push in five years: Himanta

GUWAHATI: Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma on Saturday announced that Rs 1.50 lakh crore will be invested in capital expenditure in the state over the next five years, including Rs 50,000 crore from its own resources.

Addressing the Independence Day celebrations after hoisting the National Flag, Sarma also appealed to people from different parts of the country who have settled and assimilated into Assam’s culture to mention ‘Assamese’ as their mother tongue during the Census. He said people in Barak Valley and tribal communities could mention their respective languages.
