IMD warns of very heavy rainfall in south Bengal as Bay deep depression intensifies

Kolkata: The India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Monday said a deep depression over the Bay of Bengal is expected to bring heavy to very heavy rainfall to south Bengal districts till July 28. The weather system is likely to move north-northwestward and cross the Bengal-Odisha coasts by Monday afternoon.

The IMD has also warned fishermen against venturing into the sea along and off the West Bengal coast and northwest Bay of Bengal till July 29, citing rough to very rough sea conditions with squally winds of 55-65 kmph, gusting up to 75 kmph.
