CWG Boxing: Arundhati, Jaismine, Preeti, Sakshi, Ankush, Jadumani Storm into Finals

GLASGOW: India was assured of at least six boxing medals at the Commonwealth Games as Arundhati Choudhary upset defending champion Rosie Eccles of Wales 4-0 in the women’s 70kg semifinal on Friday. World champion Jaismine Lamboria (57kg) and four other Indians also entered their respective finals with dominant performances.

Preeti Pawar (54kg), Sakshi Chaudhary (51kg), Ankush Panghal (80kg) and Jadumani Singh (55kg) secured their places in the gold medal bouts, boosting India’s medal hopes. Arundhati controlled the opening rounds and forced Eccles to take a standing count before sealing a memorable victory in a tense and scrappy contest.
