‘Don’t Waste Our Time’: Supreme Court Declines Urgent Relief in Delhi Protesters Case
New Delhi: The Supreme Court on Wednesday refused to grant an urgent hearing on a petition seeking a probe into the alleged police action against student protesters during the Cockroach Janata Party’s (CJP) march in Delhi over the NEET paper leak issue.
The plea was mentioned before Chief Justice of India Surya Kant by advocate Narendra Mishra, who sought an immediate listing, alleging police excesses during the protest demanding the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan and reforms in the examination system.
Declining the request, the CJI remarked, “Don’t waste our time, and don’t waste your time.” The petitioner argued that the protest highlighted important concerns over the conduct of the NEET examination and reforms in the National Testing Agency (NTA), but the Bench refused to hear the matter on an urgent basis.
