Fire Guts Oil Mill in Kerala’s Thrissur, Losses Estimated at Lakhs

THRISSUR (Kerala): A major fire broke out at an oil mill near Thalikulam in Kerala’s Thrissur district on Thursday morning, destroying machinery and stock worth lakhs of rupees, officials said. The blaze erupted around 7.45 am at Sali Oil Mill in Pathamkallu near Thalikulam. Fire and Rescue Services personnel rushed to the spot and brought the fire under control.

According to officials, machinery, around 400 kg of coconut oil, copra and other raw materials stored inside the mill were completely gutted in the blaze. The cause of the fire is yet to be ascertained, and no casualties were reported.
