India Opt for Experience, Name Trusted Core for Women’s Hockey World Cup
New Delhi: India on Friday announced a 20-member women’s hockey squad for next month’s FIH Hockey World Cup in Belgium and the Netherlands, retaining the same group selected for the Asian Games later this year. Led by captain Salima Tete, the squad has been described by chief coach Sjoerd Marijne as a well-balanced combination of experienced players and emerging talent. The team, currently training at the national camp in Bengaluru, will compete in the World Cup from August 15 to 30.
