Odia Diaspora Celebrates Rath Yatra in Mumbai
Mumbai, July 17: Members of the Odia diaspora residing in Mumbai celebrated Rath Yatra with great enthusiasm and devotion. A grand Rath Yatra was organized by various Odia families in Naigaon (East), Mumbai.
The procession, organized by the Jagannath Seva Sanstha, witnessed the participation of thousands of devotees. The deities of Lord Jagannath, Lord Balabhadra, and Devi Subhadra were ceremonially worshipped in the morning before being carried in the traditional Pahandi Bije procession and placed on the chariots.
The atmosphere resonated with the sounds of conch shells and traditional devotional chants. Devotees then joined together to pull the chariots as part of the sacred ritual.
On the occasion, Anna Prasada (sanctified food) was distributed among the devotees. A spirit of joy, devotion, and excitement was evident among the participants throughout the celebration.
