Odisha on High Alert as Flood Crisis Deepens, Mahanadi Water Levels Continue to Rise
BHUBANESWAR: Odisha remained on high alert on Thursday as flood conditions stayed critical in four northern districts, while rising water levels in the Mahanadi raised concerns over a medium flood in downstream regions.
Revenue and Disaster Management Minister Suresh Pujari said that although water levels in some northern rivers were receding, they continued to flow above the danger mark, inundating fresh areas overnight. He added that all officials in the flood-affected districts have been directed to remain on duty, with their leave cancelled as the administration intensifies relief and monitoring efforts.
