PM Modi Greets Dharmendra Pradhan on Birthday, Lauds His Role in NEP Implementation

NEW DELHI: Prime Minister Narendra Modi extended birthday greetings to Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, the Lok Sabha MP from Sambalpur in Odisha, who turned 57 on Friday.

The Prime Minister said, “Birthday wishes to Union Minister Shri Dharmendra Pradhan Ji. He is making commendable efforts to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) 2020, which seeks to make India a hub for knowledge, learning, and innovation. Praying for his long and healthy life.”

The Prime Minister’s appreciation comes just two days after he commended the successful conduct of the NEET-UG medical entrance re-examination by the National Testing Agency (NTA) during a Union Cabinet meeting. The NTA functions under the Ministry of Education, headed by Pradhan.

The praise assumes significance as both the NTA and the Education Ministry had faced criticism from opposition parties and other quarters over the alleged leak of NEET-UG question papers following the examination held on May 3. The test was subsequently cancelled, and a re-examination was conducted on June 21.

Since taking charge as Union Education Minister in July 2021, Pradhan has spearheaded the implementation of the NEP 2020, which aims to transform India’s education system by promoting multidisciplinary learning, innovation, and improved access to quality education.
