Raghav Chadha Claims Name Marked ‘Shifted’ in Punjab Draft Voter Rolls at AAP’s Behest

CHANDIGARH: Rajya Sabha MP Raghav Chadha has alleged “political vendetta” by the Aam Aadmi Party (AAP)-led Punjab government after his name was marked as “permanently shifted” in the state’s draft electoral rolls prepared during the Election Commission’s Special Intensive Revision (SIR).

Chadha said his voter registration is in Mohali and questioned how his name could be classified as shifted despite being a sitting Rajya Sabha MP from Punjab. He alleged that the electoral machinery was being used to target him politically after his exit from the AAP.

The AAP rejected the allegation and said the SIR exercise is conducted by the Election Commission, with the Punjab government having no role in deciding whose names are included or excluded from the electoral rolls. The party also accused Chadha of attempting to get his voter registration transferred to Delhi through a “backdated process” and of shifting the blame onto the Punjab government.

Chadha’s name appears in the Absent, Shifted, Deceased and Duplicate (ASDD) list, with the reason recorded as “permanently shifted”. The electoral roll is currently in the draft stage, allowing affected voters to raise claims and objections before the final rolls are published.

The development has triggered a fresh political confrontation between Chadha and his former party, with both sides disputing responsibility for the change in his voter status.
