Two More Die in Assam Floods; Death Toll Reaches 97, 1.68 Lakh Affected

Guwahati: Assam’s flood situation remained critical on Friday as the death toll climbed to 97 after two more people lost their lives in Golaghat and Udalguri districts. More than 1.68 lakh people across 15 districts continue to be affected by the deluge, officials said.

In a positive development, railway connectivity through Sivasagar district has been restored after nearly two weeks of disruption caused by flood-damaged tracks, according to the Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR). Authorities are continuing relief and restoration efforts as the state battles the prolonged flood crisis.
