India Gets First Dengue Vaccine as DCGI Approves Takeda’s QDENGA
New Delhi: Takeda Biopharmaceuticals India Pvt. Ltd. on Monday announced that it has received market authorization from the Drug Controller General of India (DCGI) for its dengue vaccine, QDENGA, marking the approval of India’s first dengue prevention vaccine. The company described the DCGI approval as a significant milestone in strengthening dengue prevention efforts in India.
The vaccine is indicated for individuals aged 4-60 years and can be administered irrespective of prior dengue infection, without the need for pre-vaccination testing. Takeda said QDENGA has been approved in 43 countries since its global launch in 2022, with over 32 million doses distributed worldwide.
