Wangchuk Says He Was Harassed Before Medanta Transfer; Safdarjung Explains

NEW DELHI: Activist Sonam Wangchuk has alleged harassment by authorities during his transfer from Safdarjung Hospital to Medanta Hospital in Gurugram, after the Delhi High Court permitted his transfer. In a video released on YouTube late Friday, Wangchuk recounted his experience over the past few days and shared footage of the events during his departure from Safdarjung.

Responding to the claims, Safdarjung Hospital said the video was recorded before it received the Delhi High Court’s written order approving the transfer. Wangchuk was taken to Safdarjung Hospital by Delhi Police on July 18 after being removed from the Cockroach Janta Party (CJP) protest site at Jantar Mantar, where he had been on a hunger strike since June 28 demanding accountability for paper leaks and the resignation of Union Education Minister Dharmendra Pradhan, among other issues.
