Army Personnel Held Over Theft of Rifles, Pistols from Secunderabad Armoury
HYDERABAD: An Army personnel has been taken into custody in connection with the theft of service weapons and ammunition from an Army facility in Hyderabad, officials said on Friday.
Official sources confirmed that one Army personnel was in custody in the case. The role of some other individuals is also being examined as part of the ongoing investigation, they said.
The breakthrough was achieved following coordinated efforts by the Telangana Police and other concerned agencies and wings involved in the probe, the sources added.
However, officials did not disclose further details regarding the identity of the person taken into custody, the number or type of weapons and ammunition allegedly stolen, or the circumstances surrounding the theft.
The investigation is continuing to determine whether others were involved and to establish the full sequence of events leading to the disappearance of the service weapons and ammunition from the Army facility.
