Assam Floods: Rahul Gandhi Calls for Robust, Science-Driven Prevention System

NEW DELHI: Leader of the Opposition Rahul Gandhi on Monday expressed grief over the loss of lives in the devastating Assam floods and called for a robust disaster management system focused on scientific prevention, early warning mechanisms and rehabilitation.

In a post, Gandhi extended condolences to the bereaved families and expressed solidarity with the over 5.24 lakh people affected by the floods. The death toll in this year’s floods has risen to 68, though the overall flood situation has shown signs of improvement, according to officials.
