Bihar, Jharkhand Ink Sone Water-Sharing Agreement in Shah’s Presence

NEW DELHI: Bihar and Jharkhand on Monday signed an MoU to share 7.75 million acre-feet of water from the Sone River, officials said, resolving a nearly 25-year-old water dispute between the two states.

The agreement was signed in the presence of Union Home Minister Amit Shah, Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, Jharkhand Chief Minister Hemant Soren and Union Jal Shakti Minister C R Patil. Shah said the pact would ensure adequate irrigation and drinking water for large populations in both states.
